Symptoms & Glucose Test
Hey there! I am now 7 weeks and 1 day....yay!!! Today I went down to Kaiser to do a Gluten Tolerance test. I have been dreading it all week because 1. It was at 7 in the morning 2. I have had morning sickness all week and 3. Anything sweet makes me puke! SO having to get up at 6 to go drink a big cup of this gross sugary juice and sit for two hours was not high on my wish list.
Anyway...Josh (boyfriend aka baby daddy) went with me cuz he is a sweety. The drink was not as bad as I thought. It was a small bottle full and tasted like flat orange soda with lots of sugar. I had 5 min to drink it and had to come back in an hour to have blood drawn..and then once more an hour after that. Glad its over! Hopefully the results will be good...but no matter what I have to repeat the test at 24 weeks :(
Now on to my symptoms!! So when I first found out I was pregnant until about 6 weeks I was TIRED! I would sleep for ten hours and still need a nap. Working until 2am didn't help either! But then right when I hit 6 weeks I felt like I had slightly more energy and at the same time my nausea got switched up to hyperdrive! I tossed my cookies for the first time this week...not fun...at least I hadn't eaten yet. I found if I eat something as soon as the nausea starts it does not get that bad. Too bad the baby only lets me eat Lays potato chips, toast and noodles haha. Lastly is my bathroom trips....which are growing in frequency dramatically. I have to keep two glasses of water by my bed because I get so thirsty and don't want to go all the way to the kitchen to get a refill halfway thru the night. I drink water like a freakin camel. They drink alot don;t they??
ooooooo...one more thing! My. Boobs. Hurt. Like....really hurt....god forbid Josh try to cop a feel...haha...or give me too tight a hug...I'm always swatting him away if he dares to get within a foot of my chest. I swear they are already getting huge! but that's all for now...another update in a week or two!

First Ultrasound!
Today I had my first prenatal appointment with Kaiser!
It was a basic informational meeting to go over what medicines I can take and what I should and should not be eating. They also informed me about classes I can take and a rundown of tests they will do and appointments I will have. After sharing my concerns with the doctor...that this is my first pregnancy and I am absolutely terrified that I am going to sneeze and do something to ruin this and hurt the baby..she offered an ultrasound! JOY!
So first of all laying down in that room with my pants low on my hips...she put this gel on my abdomen...very warm gel surprisingly. Then for the next few minutes she proceded to move the little handle thing around on me while she stared concentrating on the monitor. All I could do was imagine something was wrong! It felt like it took forever before she finally said everything looked good! Thank God! While she was staring at the screen with pursed lips and furrowed brow I was having a series of minor heart attacks! Did I mention I have high anxiety?? haha
SO everything is good with my little baby pumpkin! I measured exactly 6 weeks one day.. and the heart is just beginning to beat registering into a little flicker on the screen. This little while dot is my whole world! It is absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to see my baby again!

We're pregnant!
Hello Everyone!
I decided to start a blog to document my first pregnancy! My Name is Ashley and I am 23 years old...My boyfriend is Josh and he just turned 25. This is such an exciting time and I just wanted to be able to have an outlet to share all of the experiences that we are going through! And I mean all of them. So if you don't want all the dirty details of being preggo...you probably should not read haha.
SO we found out the day before Valentines Day. We had only slept together once throughout the whole month...so I was not even considering that i may be pregnant. Just a little background information. I am the type of girl that takes pregnancy tests alot...and i mean ALOT. I have always had this desire to be a mommy. Even before I lost my virginity ( at a respectable 18 years old) I took like 2 pregnancy tests! hmm..if my boobs are a little sore...its out to the nearest drugstore to purchase those mystical strips :) I swear I should buy stock in the company. They should come to me for the marketing!
So anyways..I had a test already and did notice I was almost a week late. Surprisingly I had not even worried about the chance I was pregnant..I just took the test out of habit. For some reason when I do take the tests my period seems to follow usually that same day or the next. So I'm just sitting there...you know where....doing my business..and I glance over at the test on the counter.. and then my whole world changes. A second LINE!!! "What the heck??!!" I yelled actually out loud. After all those tests over the years it was positive! I was in such shock I don't even remember if I flushed. With my hands shaking I just paced around my house holding the stick saying to myself...omygodomygodomygodomygod..o...my...god! So yes..it DOES only take ONE time..and it CAN happen to YOU! I don't know why this knowledge had left me but it is stuck into my memory now and forever!
Of course my parents are in Nevada for a week and you don't just call up your mom on her cell to tell her about her first grandchild! So I call up my BFF..all casual....telling her I have an early Valentine gift for her. A very LONG hour and a half later she shows up and i hand her a card....in it reads: Hi Aunty Rachel! I Love you! See you in October! I LOVE YOU!
Of course we start shreiking like girlfriends do and head out to the nearest baby store to look at baby stuff so we can surprise the daddy. We got a a cute little onesie that said Daddys all-Star on it and I had it all ready for him to open on valentines day...but as soon as I saw him I blurt out " Sooooo...Im pregnant." haha....so much for the cute surprise! But we are beyond thrilled and this is going to be quite an adventure! I cannot wait to become a mommy and this is such an amazing experience so far. I would love to share it all with the world!
